Mirfield Stags made it ten from ten in the League with a narrow victory away at Drighlington.

The fixture was a repeat of the Yorkshire Cup Final contested by the sides in December and once again it was the Stags who edged a tight contest.

Nathan Hadfield (sponsored by Hadfield Travel) returned to the Mirfield ranks, though the visitors remained without half-back Brad Delaney (sponsored by CJ Heating and Gas Specialists) due to suspension.

A young and enthusiastic Drig side pushed the Stags all the way, but Richard Silverwood’s men once again showed their mettle to preserve their unbeaten record at the top of the division.

Casey Canterbury (sponsored by Delta Electrical UK) and Dom Flanagan (sponsored by Charles Speight Architectural Design) were the try-scorers for the visitors.

Flanagan added a conversion, while Wayne Wilson (sponsored by Tominay Stone Masonry) kicked three.

The win means the Stags remain six points clear of nearest rivals Upton, who have two games in hand as the season approaches the closing stages.
