Mirfield Stags continued their momentum at the top of Pennine League Division One with a hard-fought victory away at Sharlston.

The Stags handed a debut to full-back Jarrod Ward, sponsored by Delta Electrical UK, but were without influential half-back Brad Delaney, sponsored by Delta Electrical UK for the trip.

Winger Mikey Otty, sponsored by Park House Security and Electrical, and hooker Casey Canterbury, sponsored by Delta Electrical UK, led the way with a brace of tries each.

Dom Flanagan, sponsored by Charles Speight Architectural Design, and Scott Bradley, sponsored by The New Inn, Roberttown, also crossed the whitewash.

Wayne Wilson, sponsored by Tominay Stone Masonry, kicked three goals, while Flanagan added one.

Omar Alrawi, sponsored by Delta Electrical UK, was named players’ and coach’s man of the match.

The win ensures the Stags remain clear of nearest rivals Upton in second, ahead of Saturday’s visit of Illingworth.
